Morocco Implements Mandatory PORTNET Platform for Shipment Certification

16 December 2024

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIC) of the Kingdom of Morocco has announced that, effective December 2, 2024, all shipment certification procedures will transition to the new PORTNET digital platform. This initiative aims to centralize and streamline applications for Certificates of Conformity (CoC), Statements of Registration (SoR), and various licensing requirements.

Key Implementation Details:

1. Exclusive Use of PORTNET Platform

  • Certificate of Conformity (CoC) Applications
  • Statement of Registration (SoR) Applications
  •  Licence Applications

2. Process Changes

  •  Application Initiation: Importers or freight forwarders must file all shipment certification requests through PORTNET; direct submissions are no longer permitted after December 2, 2024.
  • Automatic Assignment: A system-based algorithm within PORTNET automatically directs each application to an approved Certification Body, such as Intertek.

This digital overhaul underlines Morocco’s commitment to modernizing its trade infrastructure, reinforcing both regulatory compliance and ease of doing business for international partners.
