Iraq’s Revised Regulated Product List: New Standards and Technical Regulations

The Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control (COSQC) in Iraq has issued an updated Regulated Product List (RPL) that introduces new products and revises existing standards or technical regulations. Simultaneously, several products, along with their corresponding requirements, have been removed from the list. Exporters seeking more details on these changes are advised to consult the official Intertek website, where the revised COSQC RPL has been published.

1. Expanded Scope

  • Newly Listed Products: The revised RPL includes an array of additional product categories, each subject to updated testing and certification protocols.
  • Updated Standards: Certain products on the existing list now adhere to revised standards, reflecting COSQC’s commitment to ensuring quality, safety, and compliance in the Iraqi market.

2. Deletions and Streamlined Requirements

  •  Products Removed: Several items have been taken off the RPL, reducing the regulatory burden for relevant exporters.
  •  Simplified Guidance: By consolidating requirements and refining listed products, COSQC aims to provide clearer directives for businesses operating in Iraq.

3. Certificate of Conformity (CoC) Mandate

  •  Strict Enforcement: Exporters must secure a valid CoC prior to shipment, as Iraqi authorities enforce this requirement at all national ports and borders.
  • Trade Facilitation: Compliance ensures faster customs clearance and minimizes the risk of costly delays or rejections.

Ensuring conformance with these new guidelines not only meets regulatory obligations but also promotes product integrity and builds trust in the region’s supply chain.
