Saudi Arabia - Technical Regulation for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has released the EMC Technical Regulation on November 17, 2023.


All products, covered by the listed on the regulation, should go through conformity assessment procedures, which requires the supplier’s declaration of conformity.


The products as follows are excluded from the scope of the regulation:


Radio Equipment and Telecommunication Terminal Equipment (R&TTE)

Aeronautics and aviation products and spare parts

Communications equipment used by amateurs

Medical equipment

Equipment with the following physical characteristics

Equipment which is unable to generate or contribute to electromagnetic emissions exceeding the permissible level for radio equipment and telecommunications and other equipment to operate as intended

Equipment which is not affected by the presence of electromagnetic interference that normally results from normal use.

Electronic panels designed for experts which are used directly for research development purpose

The new regulation becomes effective on May 17, 2024, and mandatory on November 17, 2024.
