The United Arab Emirates has introduced a mandatory new Energy Efficiency Standards and Labeling (EESL) which requires regulated products to comply with the minimum energy performance standard.

As part of the initiative by the Emirates Standardisation and Metrology Authority (ESMA), all domestic goods for sale must have a label showing specific information about each and every product displayed in the market. This information includes Annual Energy Consumption (AEC), Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) in numerical value and its corresponding star-rating, and other specific information related to the applicable regulation and product.

The new labels will help consumers make comparisons between various models and choose the most energy-efficient appliance that suits their needs.
